Start with structure

You must start by knowing how to structure a blog. Getting the basics right early on will help you to develop the base for every blog you write.

A typical blog is around 500 – 1,000 words. Sometimes blogs can be longer depending on the topic however, often, audiences can get bored easily if the blog is any longer than this.

Write catchy headlines

We recommend using headlines that are short and snappy, making it easier to catch the eyes of your audience.

Headlines should be no longer than 6 or 7 words at the most – there are cases where more can be used, this is only a general rule.

Be odd

Using odd numbers in titles can make your content more visible.

There are lots of reasons behind this but mainly because three and five short nuggets of information are easier for the reader to digest than say eight or ten.

Omnicore states that ‘An odd-numbered list will outpace an even-numbered one by 20%. More than a third of internet audiences (36%) prefer formal list-based articles to solid text blocks.’

Bring on the content

Obviously, the more content you can produce, there is a better chance of increasing traffic on your website and building a long list of topics which your company is knowledgeable on. All those key words featuring in your blog will also bring up your SEO on the likes of Google.

Generating content can become too much if you are bombarding your social media account with a blog every single day. Try one or two per fortnight and see what opportunities that leads to. Make sure the blogs are separate too which will ensure it gets the coverage it deserves before the next brilliant blog comes along.

Be an instructor

It’s no secret that people turn to the internet for absolutely everything these days so making sure you have their answers about your products and services will increase your chances of a click to your website.

Writing instructions on ‘How to…’ will leave your customers with feeling like they have learned something new alongside being provided with a great level of customer service because you will have answered their questions before they even know they wanted to ask it.

Go through your frequently asked questions and see if there are any popular ones that you could turn into a great how to blog of your very own.
