I hate nothing more than responding to someone on Twitter or Facebook only to find that it takes a week to get a reply! Are you the same?
There are a variety of tools available to individuals and businesses nowadays, such as Hootsuite (even Facebook allow this amazing bit of functionality on their website), which allow you to schedule posts for your social network well in advance. We use such tools for most of our clients, and don’t get me wrong, these tools are fantastic at allowing you to plan and schedule a mass of posts in advance, without having to post them in real time. However make sure that you don’t rely on them too much. The idea of posting on the likes of Twitter is to generate engagement. In which case you need to stay on the ball and respond to any followers that start engaging with you.
Our advice – plan and schedule your main posts in advance. We plan posts up to a month in advance! But set aside time to check in on Twitter and Facebook every day to respond to anyone who may have replied to your posts. Download the relevant apps on your phone, and when you find those spare 5 minutes (whether it be waiting for the kids to finish school, or waiting for your favourite TV show to come on) make sure you stay real!
