You may be doing everything correctly. Frequently writing and sharing blog posts in your field of expertise. Sharing it on your predominant social media platforms, like Facebook or Linkedin. However, you may be missing out a key platform; Instagram.
Sharing your blog posts on Instagram will direct another group of audience to your blog, possibly one that haven’t come across it before. This will increase your overall reach and is a fantastic way to gain more traffic onto your blog.
Let’s start with the image…
Firstly, you want to have an ‘instagram worthy’ image. It’s your choice whether you want to take the photo yourself, or create the artwork using a creative software. The image will need to be a minimum size of 640 x 640 pixels.
If you’re ever unsure on the correct sizes for your images on social media, we have created the perfect guide. Here are the correct sizes for all posts on all social media platforms.
Key words
Once you have an image ready to post on Instagram, you want to think about the caption. It is important to use key words in the caption, words that help to describe your blog post. This will encourage curiosity from anyone who sees it, and will make them want to read your blog.
Link your blog to your profile
It may seem obvious, but it is essential to remember to provide the link for your blog post on your Instagram profile. This will direct Instagrammers directly to your post and will mean they are more likely to see it. We recommend converting the link to a bit.ly link so it is shorter and easier to manage.
Bit.ly will also monitor the total clicks on your link, helping you to manage and assess its engagement.
Managing multiple links
As time goes on, you may be sharing more and more blog posts on your Instagram profile. But you may want to keep old posts visible, whilst still sharing your recent ones. A great way to do this is by using Linktree. It acts as a landing page for all your links. All you have to do then is put the link to your linktree page on your Instagram profile, and then your followers can access multiple blog posts, old and new.
You won’t need to update the link on your profile, but you will need to update your linktree landing page every time you have a new post.
It’s ready to upload…
Now you are ready to upload the image and its caption to Instagram. Find your favourite filter, and be sure to use key words. It may be useful to include some hashtags in your caption, like ‘#newblogpost’ or including a comment like ‘link in bio’. This will let your followers know where they can find the link to your blog in order to read it.
That’s it!
You are now ready to start sharing your blog posts on Instagram!
