Things to consider when it comes to marketing in 2020

We have over 9 years experience in digital marketing, we’ve been through many years of change and whilst we have our own goals we want to achieve in 2020, we have some top tips of things to consider when it comes to marketing this New Year.

Avoid the cliche marketing tactics.

It’s easy to start the year feeling refreshed when it comes to your marketing plans. You want to boss it, get loads of new clients and change the world. However, customers and clients will see through it very quickly because everyone has the same tactic. We highly encourage reviewing your marketing efforts and looking at new websites in the New Year but we urge you to avoid the cliche things such as quick sales, new year new you messages and the same old content you had in 2019. Be smart, unique and dynamic to stand out from the crowd this 2020.

Set obtainable goals for your marketing plans in 2020.

It’s easy to start the New Year thinking you’re going to post 2 videos a week, a blog a week, smash social media and be a general digital marketing genius. However, we all know from experience that New Year’s goals can quickly fizzle out. By no fault of our own, life gets in the way and things stop. So why not set a goal for your business that is realistic and fits into your day-to-day routine. Maybe outsource the items that you know you can’t achieve yourself, that way you’re still working on your end goal but without the doubt of actually achieving them.

Review your current website.

Many people set up a website and believe it will serve them for years to come. All websites require regular maintenance and updates to keep them working well, happy in Google and providing a great user experience. Have a look at your website, where it sits in Google, does get as many hits as it used to? It can often be some small updates or even a whole new design that could see your business thrive in 2020 online.

USE VIDEO. Stop being afraid!

We spent most of 2019 talking about how important video was – you have probably seen them on your social media feeds a dozen times today already. Your business, no matter the industry, will thrive with helpful videos. Whether it’s a B2B where you’re showing your team, tips or insight or even a B2C that showcases its products. Everyone who wants to get results from digital marketing in 2020, should be using video.

Show your customers why you’re the expert in your field.

Ask your friends and family who follow you online, whether they truly know what it is that you do. Does your marketing reflect your business services and what you want to be known as the expert in? Sometimes its easy to share content that seems engaging and relevant but actually detracts from your business. For example if you share a top tip, does it seem generic and obvious? Make 2020 the year you share quality over quantity.

What are you looking to achieve from 2020 when it comes to your digital marketing? Have you reflected on what has worked over the last year, do you ever look at your analytics to see what were the most visited pages on your website?
