Why you should revise, analyse and react to your monthly stats?

Are you using online statistics to improve and formulate your marketing strategy?

With so much information so easy to access, it’s surprising to know that according to a HubSpot report, 74% of companies that weren’t exceeding revenue goals did not know their visitor, lead, MQL or sales opportunities.

So, what is there to see and how should this information be analysed to improve your marketing strategy? We’ve broken it down into three sections.

Social Media

Every social media platform including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn all include analytic pages which shows you how well your social media posts are performing. If you’ve chosen to advertise in these respective platforms, these also come along with a range of statistics so that you can see what’s performing well and what isn’t.

Considering 40% of internet users follow their favourite brands on social media, it’s essential you build this type of marketing into your strategy and business plan because if you fall off the radar your brand will not be seen and may lose the recognition it deserves.

It’s not just about how many likes, comments and shares you get any more either – it’s about how many people your brand can get in front of for just one post.

Just to put it into perspective in 2016 SproutSocial revealed that 76% of adults use Facebook daily – and if you can image the turnover that could bring to your business you’ll definitely consider looking at the analytics to analyse your business and its audience.

Website

Your website is your best selling tool and every website builder comes with built in statistic tools so that you can manage, develop and improve the information you are providing to the traffic of people that visit your website frequently.

One of the best ways to provide your audience with new and exciting information is via content marketing. According to the Content Marketing Institute, content marketing gets three times more leads than paid search advertising so this is something you should definitely monitor when looking at your online traffic flow.

Online advertising

When advertising online it is really important to know what kind of ROI you may receive before committing to anything. However, it’s much easier than ever to know how your adverts will reach your target audience and it’s also easier to ensure it reaches the right individuals by customer segmentation and focus strategies built within the advertising tools available to you.

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is becoming more and more popular with people on a budget. Google and Facebook still hold the largest share of total digital ad spend with 38.6% and 19.9% retrospectively.

Managing success through advertising online can be challenging without any clear benchmarks but if you know the Click Through Rate (CTR) of similar marketing campaigns you may just be on to a winner as you’ll be likely to compare your own marketing campaign with another giving you a better chance of estimating your ROI.
