No matter how advanced you are in the SEO game, it’s complex at all levels, and to find out how to improve your SEO takes some time to get your head around.
There are lots of help articles and vlogs across the web which will give you a constant source of information and help 24 hours a day, but if you are not sure what you’re looking for it can often be hard to find and digest.
We’ve put together some really simple top tips to initially consider which will give you a great starting point on your road to SEO success.
Optimise content and page titles
Firstly, put together a list of relevant key words which will help you become easier to search for and get picked up easier on search engine results.
Once you’ve made your list, you can start to think about how to optimise your page titles for the best results.
Getting your businesses key words into page titles shouldn’t be forced. They need to flow naturally so that they speak directly to your audiences. Think like a journalist when writing your page titles, ask yourself questions like who, what, where when and how so that you cover more bases.
Although you want your page titles to be natural, bare in mind that your search engine listing is still a way of advertising your business so don’t over optimise by filling your titles and content with key words – remember that SEO takes into consideration ‘good marketing’ so it’s essential to still use marketing tools to enhance your SEO.
Readability is also really important so don’t put good marketing in jeopardy so that you can cram in your key words.
Optimise your business around the internet too. Aside from your website being your core SEO focus there are other online media platforms which do need some attention in order to attract other audiences. This includes social media, online directories and ‘Google Places’.
This should allow you to build a sense of recognition and reputation that your website is being displayed on other trusted sites, this should in turn allow audiences to gain your trust too.
Link building isn’t the easiest SEO tactic to understand as there are so many layers to the process however, it is important and should be used regularly to improve SEO results.
To break link building down simply, a link is what users can follow in order to go from one webpage to the next.
Another way links are used is by the likes of Google to identify authority and relevance of your website. This is crucial to ensure you appear on search engine results and where you appear.
Link building is the process of other websites linking to yours. This process could be content from bloggers/ influencers, paid advertising or mentions on social media.
Lots of companies now include link building campaigns into their digital marketing strategies because the more relevant mentions you receive; then more likely your business is to appear higher in search results when someone uses your key words.
Video content is often overlooked, but if you have some quality video footage, this can enhance your SEO listings. Replace shallow content for videos and Google will look on this in favour. Imagery works too but please bare in mind that both need to be captioned and linked properly to increase your SEO success.
Not only that but this also helps to score accessibility points and allows you to gain credibility with a broader audience.
