What do businesses gain from attending our Lunch and Learn events? A mid-year review.

We’ve run numerous Lunch and Learn events in 2016 in both Northampton and our most recent location, Bedford! So what exactly do our Lunch and Learners get from attending our marketing lunches? Apart from lunch… and how can we improve our events?

Our upcoming Lunch and Learn events are about getting more from your website and managing more effective email marketing campaigns. But in the past 6 months we’ve run events about getting more from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and sessions specifically about the types of content that you could be posting to those platforms.

We’ve welcomed businesses from all walks of life – scaffolders, will-writers, photographers, business coaches, physiotherapists, hairdressers, accountants, solicitors, designers… the list goes on! So what is it that people gain from attending our events? We’ve spooled over the feedback that we’ve received over the past 6 months and drawn a few conclusions.

1. Our sessions are widely loved

We hand out feedback forms at the events we run, to get a general feel for how people have enjoyed the session. We’ve had loads of 5* ratings from our Lunch and Learners! They like the organisation of the event, the venue, the networking and the food!

2. Could we make the sessions longer?

This is a tricky one. Our sessions are between 2 hours and 2 hours 30 minutes at the moment. It fits nicely over the lunch period and helps to break up the day. We’ve had feedback that we could make the sessions longer so that we encompass more topics, more feedback and more discussion. But it’s a balancing act. We need to ensure the topics are concise and that we don’t try to cover too much ground. We want our Lunch and Learners to leave with a clear sense that they can take action in their business. If we try to cover too many topics and the make the events longer we might begin to confuse people. That said, if enough people wanted a longer half-day session to go in to more detail, we could be tempted to put on extra sessions! Let us know what you think.

3. Business owners leave with useful tips

We ask people for their feedback on the things they will take away from the session and implement in their business. Almost everyone leaves with a golden nugget. Whether it’s the magic of Twitter lists, how to flick between Facebook pages, or how to manage your LinkedIn “stalker” settings, business owners leave the room with something really useful that they can implement straight away. So for future sessions we know to include plenty of these useful hints and tips!

4. Everyone wants to attend more sessions

One of the most unanimous pieces of feedback we receive is that people are interested in attending more sessions in the future. That’s amazing feedback for us to receive. It means we can plan for future sessions. We’ve got loads of ideas about future sessions, to cover a huge range of digital marketing topics. And it may be that we run additional sessions in the future, so watch this space.

5. The lunch (and cake) is a winner

We do our best to cater for dietary requirements and to lay on a decent spread of cake. It seems that everyone leaves well fed, watered, and caked… sometimes perhaps a little too caked!
