Follow Friday has become some what of a staple in most businesses (and individuals) Twitter diet. The idea is to tag in specific users, with either #FF or #FollowFriday, encouraging each other to follow, well,  each other! Simples!

At onefoursix we love our Follow Friday’s! It is a great way of being introduced to new people and businesses, not just locally but nationally as well. However when we sent out our most recent #FF last Friday, we had a complaint (OK not really a complaint, more of a suggestion).

But they were absolutely SPOT ON! The only problem with Follow Friday is that it can be VERY annoying! We all get those people (we are certainly guilty of it) who tag in every user under the sun! Then come the retweets (RT), and all of a sudden you are left with a flood of 50+ notifications, which is never good!

We have all heard of the term – quality over quantity. So we are going to propose something new for Follow Friday. Starting this Friday, let’s all do a #FF tagging in just one or two companies, and actually say a bit about them at the same time. So instead of this (which was our latest #FF tweet):

#FF @nuovonorthants @NN_Connect @MotRepairsLTD @AlfesCauseKids @MaxProfitGrowth @Wonkana @GravitasHR

Lets all try a bit of this:

#FF @NN_Connect – Northamptonshire’s Number 1 Networking Group! Have you been yet?

So, let’s all make a change this Friday. Try telling people why you should be following your suggestion of a #FF, and let’s keep it down to 1 or 2, not 20!
